...A day for the birds
The great blue heron
I think this is a morning I will never forget. I almost always go down to my patio by the water and have my morning coffee. This particular morning, every coastal bird in the neighborhood was squawking, flying around, dipping in for fish and creating an unbelievable racket. I watched in awe for more than an hour, then decided I needed to get the camera out. There were a couple of species, the cormorant and the ibis, that showed up, too, but I wasn't able to get pictures of them. Here are some shots I did get.
A highly unusual yet amazing collection of herons and egrets gathered in this canal.
If interested, there's another page of Texas shorebirds that include the elusive Roseate Spoonbill.
